Now Playing   Boy With the Beatle Hair by the Swans  One of the handful of Beatle novelty records to actuality chart in the Fab 4 Frenzy of Spring, 1964…no great shakes musically, but very pleasant  & catchy, to my ear anyway. And it certainly didn’t hurt that the group just happened to be named after one of the labels that had a Beatles 45 out…I’m just sayin’…

LQQK @ †h∆†!  Pop Hates the Beatles by the Men in Black  …and now, for an Opposing Point of View…featuring Alan Sherman, Dino, and Vic Damone…

Wicked Ballsy Beatles, pt 2

Typical of the early Beatsploitation LPs…they took a surf ‘n’ hot rod disc, threw on a Beatles original, a Beatles cover, and a Searchers tune, and there you go…featuring Leon Russell on the piano, and Keith Allison, a Paul McCartney lookalike who would join Paul Revere & Raiders in 1968.

But then you had straight copies of Beatles records…and unless you were getting a wicked price break on a budget label, what was the point? Didn’t mean they couldn’t try…and boy, did they ever…

listen…(doo wah doo)…do you wanna hear some shameless plugs?…(doo wah doo)…
