Before Jenga, altho obviously after Pickup Stix, came this game from 1971, Blockhead. According to the rules, you try to build it up as high as you can…lose once, you’re a — well, see for yourself…

  I believe some of the painted wooden pieces are actually the letters B-L-O-C-K-H-E-A-D, or approximately…

 Jenga BTW was first marketed in 1983. The British  popularized Pick Up Sticks…both “Jackstraws” in the New World from an Indian game with wheat straws…and the more elaborate “Spellicans,” a game imported from China, with ivory sticks, knobbed on the end with various carved shapes. But the format of all these games was the same…build or remove without upsetting the apple cart…
