Something To Pin It On…

Dear Friends: This advertisement is a snapshot of “what was on our minds” in 1967. Mind you, these were before Smiley Faces. But who wears buttons today? Even bumper-stickers are hardly the rage they once were, nor even their putative successor, magnetic car “ribbons.” I have just a few comments…

button #1…at the time, this was one of my favorite ironic sayings…ha ha…much better than #49.

buttons #11, 37, 68, 76…ah, the Tolkien craze…

buttons #12 & 92…and who can forget the “You Don’t Have to be Jewish” fad… a yenta is a busybody, a kvetch is a whiner.

button #23…was for if you really didn’t like LBJ…today, the Secret Service would come and have a chat with you, I think…

button #46…not sure I get this one…a reference to “a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down” perhaps?

button #59…um…oh, right!

button #94…would this be banned today as insensitive to the Holocaust?…unless worn with buttons #12 or 92?

button #106…reminds me of a gag that I believe goes back to Victorian times…Been getting on the side?…Well actually, it’s been so long, I didn’t know they moved it…

WICKED BALLSY

OK, I wear one button a year…around the end of October…

kiss my shameless plugs…
