Air Mail is Dead…Long Live Air Mail…
In the US, Air Mail was phased out in the early 1970s, as domestic transport of all mail by air became the norm. It is still a distinct class of service in other countries, marked by eye-catching red and blue borders. Traditionally, air mail borders were square shapes called “lozenges,” occasionally birds or airplanes.
The above examples from Ghana in the early 1960s show an unknown (to me) shape, in the colors of the national flag.
Later, changed to the more standard red and blue, and then morphed into GP, for Ghana Post…

After batting .500 and .525 in his final 2 high school seasons, Randy Poffo tried a career in pro baseball, racking up uninspiring numbers, and rising no higher than Class A. I’msurprised some of the stats are missing…this wasn’t 100 years ago, for gosh sakes…
